Oboe; guan

Shuang guan, double cylindrical oboe. Two cylindrical pipes drilled in a single piece of dark, heavy wood. Each has seven oval finger holes arranged in pairs. A double reed of cane is inserted directly into the proximal end of each pipe and lapped with wire near the base. The pewter inlay at both ends of the body is pierced by a regular rectangular pattern.
