Whistle; ocarina
Whistle, vessel flute with duct. The ceramic whistle takes the form of a man riding a horse. The horse's tail is an upward pointing stump, with the mouth hole at its centre. A rectangular mouth or window is located in the rump. There is a pair of finger holes towards the front of the instrument, below the rider's torso. The entire surface is covered in a cream/yellow glaze. A label on the horse's belly reads 'Pottery whistle, Switzerland, 1905: gift of E. Lovell, 1922. 4735'.
