Banjo

Open-backed five-stringed banjo. Calfskin head. The wooden rim is encircled by the metal tension hoop. Thirty hooks with nuts are mounted in bracket shoes on the tension hoop. Open metal tailpiece with five projecting stringholders. The wooden neck originally with 24 metal frets, two missing and one detatched. Plastic nut, metal and plastic capo. The four rear-entrant pegs in the head have rosewood buttons, and the metal ends have small cylinders projecting at right angles for the attachment of the strings. The short thumb string is pegged above the eighth fret, with a nut flush with the eighth fret and two half frets between the tenth and thirteenth frets. Four strings remaining.
