Tuba in E flat. Brass with silver-plated mouthpiece. Three Périnet valves, non-compensating. Right facing bell. Curved stays. Two eyelets inside branches for shoulder strap. Socket for music card holder on first valve loop. Bell stamped: 1ST/CLASS/HAWKES & SON/28/Leicester Square/LONDON; Written in pen on the bell ferrule: 1840-50. Valve casings stamped: 1,2,3 respectively. The outer surface of the mouthpiece stamped: HAWKES/1/MODEL. Mouthpiece shank stamped: HAWKES & SON LONDON
