Spike fiddle; endingdi
Endingidi, one-stringed spike fiddle. The tubular body, which is open at the back, is made of nkukulu (Euphorbia candelabrum) and smoothed with leaves of luawu tree. Soundtable made of the skin of blue duiker (Philantomba monticola) from Mbira Forest (between Kampala and Jinja). The neck is surmounted by a length of black goat hair. The tuning peg for the single sisal string, and the bow stick are of the shrub keyeyo (Indigofera arrecta Benth. ex Harv. & Sond.). The small bow (Horniman Museum number 2004.19.2) is outcurved.
