Transverse flute. Boxwood. Four joints (integral head/barrel joint). Ivory ferrules and endcap. Six nickel silver block mounted keys with pewter plugs. Block mounts are lined with brass where the shank is held. String lapped tenons. Head joint is stamped: ASTOR/No. 79/CORNHILT/LONDON; with a crest emblem stamped above and a unicorn's head emblem below. Barrel section of the head joint is stamped: G. ASTOR/LONDON with unicorn's head below. Upper joint is stamped: ASTOR/No. 79/CORNHILT/LONDON; with crest above and unicorn's head below. Lower joint is stamped: G. ASTOR/LONDON with unicorn's head below. Foot joint is stamped: PATENT/G. ASTOR/LONDON
