Spike lute
Skiffle lute, a spike lute made after an instrument with a tin can resonator. The resonating body is formed of a black plastic bottle with two slots cut out for soundholes. The tripod bridge may be made from the lid of the bottle. The neck is a wooden pole extending from the top of the bottle with an integral peg-box, with two sticks of bamboo for pegs. The two thin nylon strings are secured round a nail projecting from the base of the bottle; the nail is attached internally to the base of the wooden neck which traverses the whole length of the body.
