Practice chanter
Practice chanter for the Scottish Highland bagpipe, in two sections of medium bown wood. The upper joint is a mouthpiece and wind cap, housing a double reed. The lower is the main body with seven tone holes and one thumbhole. The outside of the body has a conical profile, but the bore is cylindrical. The wind cap has a metal ferrule on the socket. A wide, flat ivory ferrule (the sole) is fitted to the distal end of the instrument.
