Free reed instrument
Mouth blown free reed toy. Shell of a whelk with a dextral spiral and a long siphonal canal. The apex has been removed and replaced with a turned wooden mouthpiece. The mouthpiece has a metal liner and houses a free reed. An orange cord around the base of the mouthpiece is attached to two mother-of-pearl snail shells, each filled with red wool.
