Serpent
Serpent. Wooden body with black leather covering. Brass mouthpipe, keys, stays and bell garland. Upper branch replaced in copper. A copper sheath has also been placed around the body by the bottom two finger holes. Six open finger holes and three key covered holes, the lowest of which is on the back. Upper three finger holes and two key holes ivory-bushed; lower three finger holes and lowest key hole brass bushed. Keys are saddle mounted and have round flat flaps and no pads. Bell garland has crenulated lower edge.
