Mandolin
Genoese mandolin, or 'amandorlino'. The back consists of thirteen ribs of mid-brown wood, separated by fillets of light wood. The table is of pine, with a tortoiseshell pick guard. The recessed gilt rose is of elaborate design, with a mother-of-pearl surround. Ivory edging to table and neck. Six double courses of wire strings. 9 frets on the neck, 3 on the soundboard. The narrow bridge is of brown wood, with an ivory face. Two strings and one peg missing. Branded 'CN' at the base of the table, with a spade-shaped motif between the two initials
