Frame drum; ade ekwe
Ade ekwe, single membrane frame drum. Nine-sided shell made from nailed lengths of wood, with the abutting edges smoothed off. The frame tapers inwards slightly towards the membrane. A metal band is mounted around the outside of the lower rim. Three sides have rectangular apertures containing pairs of jingling iron discs. The hide skin is nailed around the upper rim.
