English-system concertina. Rosewood ends, 6.12in/155mm across parallel sides. Simple frets, with pine backing. 48 ivory buttons, 24 each end, black accidentals, stamped. Round-end brass reeds, three threaded screws in pan to keep bellows folds off reeds. Five-fold green leather bellows, silk reinforced, green/gold papers. Right-hand strap absent, left-hand green leather strap, small nickel screws. Oval paper label: George Case, Manufacturer and Professor of the Concertina, 32 New Bond St, (late Joseph Scates) London; Serial numbers: 548 (ends), 519 (pans), 539 (bellows).
