Kettledrum
Single membrane drum in the form of a water pot of red earthenware with a chalky white coating. The pot has a round bottom and a narrow neck and mouth. A mask fashioned at the shoulder has a mouth which forms a spout. A bark-covered stick of osier, approximately 15 mm diameter, has been bent and tied in two places with cord to form a ring. This acts as both a base and a fixture for three lengths of vegetable fibre string tensioning the membrane. A stick is threaded through each string to adjust to retain the twist. A hide membrane covers the mouth of the pot. It is secured with a narrow stick coiled three times to form a hoop, to which it is stitched with a narrow white thread.
