Concertina

English-system bass concertina, single action. Flat and bevelled elongated hexagonal ends of matt ebony with simple frets. 56 keys: 28 each side; domed nickel, some on ivory cores (13 on right-hand are missing), bushed. Double-riveted steel tongues on squared brass beds screwed to under-action. Eight-fold black leather bellows with oval and circular valve holes on front and rear lower frames. Black leather straps secured by etched and monogrammed gilt screws. Label absent. No serial number, internal letter: L; Possibly an early H. Crabb instrument from the workshop of Tommy Williams, showing his modifications to the action.
