Shamisen
Shamisen, long-necked spike lute. The body is a frame of wood, possibly red sandalwood, with a skin table and back. The neck is in three sections and can be dismantled for transportation. A leather strip covered with a textile is attached to the neck and spike, it covers the side of the instrument nearest the bass string, protecting the player's clothing. The finial surmounted by a black leather cap. There are three fluted, wooden pegs and three yellow silk strings. The skin table is a replacement, as is the white plastic bridge. Three spare strings and a printed shamisen tutor were acquired with the instrument.
