Reed horn
Signal horn. A conical brass body with a cylindrical piston valve passing through midway and a white metal simulated cornet mouthpiece at the proximal end. Two reeds are mounted inside, and the valve allows the player to alternate their use. The bell is flattened and upturned. One side of the bell stamped: 'THE/KÖHLER/SIGNAL HORN'; the other side stamped: 'Köhler & Sons, Makers, Bromley, Kent (from Covent Garden, London)'; the second inscription appears with exhibition medals dated 1851 and 1852
