Notched flute; xiao
Xiao, notched flute. A pipe of blanc de chine or Dehua porcelain, in the shape of a bamboo stem with nine nodes. The upper rim has a triangular notch in the front. Five slightly elongated finger holes along the front surface and one thumbhole above the top finger hole. Two lateral vent holes on opposite sides below the finger holes, and about 70mm from the lower rim.
