English-system concertina. Flat veneered rosewood ends, 6.12in/155mm across parallel sides, with ornate pearl corner inlays and foliate fretwork with white leather backing. 48 buttons: 24 each side, silver-capped metal, bushed. Five-fold black leather bellows with faded gold/white papers. Later black leather straps with brass screws. Oval paper label: Patent concertina by George Case, Boosey & Sons, Holles St, London; Serial numbers: ends 1571, pans 1551, bellows (and in pencil on action) 1574, side stamp 1139.
