Cylindrical drum; tabl
Tabl, single membrane cylindrical drum. The shell is a short, wide pottery cylinder, open at the base. It has three holes around the sides close to the base. These are roughly semi-circular, with the curved edge uppermost, and each is decorated with three cowrie shells inlaid into the surface of the shell at each side. The upper rim is uneven. The hide membrane is glued to the shell.
