Hichiriki; oboe
Hichiriki, oboe with reverse conical bore. Bamboo pipe with seven fingerholes which are elliptical with almost pointed ends. Two thumbholes, between the first and second and the fourth and fifth fingerholes. Black threads are wrapped around the body between each of the fingerholes and at the top and bottom. Between the threads, the top surface of the body is slightly scalloped to form indentations at the holes. The double reed is secured into the body with a paper sleeve. The bore is slightly conical, narrowing towards the distal end.
