Violoncello piccolo

A Violoncello Piccolo. Five strings. Soundboard of pine, of medium grain in the centre opening out towards the flanks. Two piece back of maple, of medium curl descending slightly from the joint, the ribs of similar wood. The pegbox from another instrument, possibly French, surmounted by a carved female head. The table has a carved and pierced rose beneath the fingerboard. The fingerboard, tail and tuning pegs of a dark wood, probably ebony. The varnish of a golden-brown colour.
