Concertina; bandoneon
Chromatic bandoneon. Square blackwood ends, 9.5in/241mm across parallel sides, metal edged, chamfered corners inlaid with a metal lure. The ends are secured by chromed wing bolts. 79 pearl-tipped plastic buttons: 38 left-hand, 41 right-hand, plus chromed air lever working on inner air flap via a wire. Steel reed tongues on thick zinc reed plates. 17-fold bellows, metal cornered and trimmed with gold/red papers; 2 thick folds, each with strap mounts. Buckled leather hand-straps, screwed to shaped wood hand bars. The metal-mounted air valve is monogrammed 'A', as is the right-hand fretwork. Oblong metal plaque pinned on left-hand end: 'Alfred Arnold, Bandonionfabrik, Carlsfeld i/sa A Fabrick Marke'. Serial number (internal): 100169
