Clavicor

Clavicor in 8-ft C. Three Shaw disc valves with compression springs in the push rod guide cases. Valve touches aligned along the front of bell stem for operation by the right hand. Loops for valves 1 and 2 face upwards, valve 2 has a finger ring on the tuning slide, and the loop for valve 3 faces downwards and has a once wound coil. Mouthpiece receiver is perpendicular to bell and connects to a circular crook. The remainder of the instrument is similar to the bell section of a trombone with the bell facing upwards. A little finger hook is positioned on the bell stem beneath the valves. The bell has no garland. The original tapering mouthpiece (not shown) is small and silver plated with a wide, flat rim. A badge on the bell is inscribed: 852; Bell itself is stamped: BY HER MAJESTY'S/ROYAL LETTERS PATENT/KOHLER SOLE MAKER/35 HENRIETTA ST./COVENT GARDEN LONDON/J.SHAW/INVENTOR; With original wooden case.
