Frame drum

Tabor, double membrane frame drum. The shallow cylindrical shell is of brass. The edges of the skins are lapped round narrow flesh hoops, that are secured by wooden counterhoops. Five pairs of hooks bent from plate metal secure each of the counterhoops. Five long tension screw rods with eyes connect the hooks together, engaging with counterthreads in the lower hooks. The lower skin is cut away to show the internal construction. Red, white and blue striped ribbons are tied between two of the screws.
