Conch-shell trumpet; dung-dkar
Dung-dkar, end-blown conch trumpet. White conch shell (Turbinella pyrum) with dextral spiral (g.yon-'khyil). The metal mouthpiece is in three sections. A metal wing (gshog-ma) is attached to the mouth of the shell. This consists of a large rectangular plate, one edge of which follows the axis of the shell. The wing is inlaid with semi-precious stones. It has repoussé decoration incorporating a dragon and a sea-serpent (chu srin), vegetation and a border of flowers along two sides.
