Oboe; suona

Suona, jina, conical oboe. Turned rosewood body with a conical bore. Seven oval fingerholes and one anterior thumb hole, between the first and second fingerholes. The exterior of the body is banded with lateral ridges, with each fingerhole positioned in the rounded trough between two ridges. Fitted to the proximal end is a brass staple with a wide, flat disc near the bottom above which are two bulbs surmounted by a narrower lip disc or pirouette. The bell is also of brass, the upper section a narrow cone, the lower flared.
