Nao with Dragon Pattern (Bronze bell with conical studs)

Well preserved. Made of bronze. The colour on the surface is brown mixed with blue. The surface has mud and patina on it. The body of the bell is long and thin, and is shaped like a combined pair of tiles. The underside (wu) is flat and the two xian points are straight. The tubular rod named yong (handle) is short and thick, hollow in the middle and is connected to the body. The cross-section of the yong is round in shape. The yong has a raised collar (xuan), which does not have a lug (xuanchong) attached for hanging the bell. The body of the bell is trapezoid shaped when viewed from the front. The curve of the mouth (yu) is slightly larger than on other bells. There are 36 conical studs on the body of the bell. At this point in history, the design of the areas (zhuan) between the studs has been completed. The Zhuan is decorated with cloud patterns. There are 5 vertical lines decorating the central panel (zheng), animal-mask motif decorating the middle of the gu, and dragon motifs decorating the sides of the gu and the areas near the wu. There are a total of 8 dragons on the instrument with triangular-shaped heads and simplified feet. The inscription on the instrument was added later, as this was evidently used as an example.
