Zhuzhou Zhong with Panchi Motif (Bronze bell)

Made of Bronze, with green patina on the surface. The body of the bell is shaped like a combined pair of tiles. The two xian points are pointing inwards. The thick framing lines dividing the studs, the areas (zhuan) between the studs, the central panel (zheng) and the gu are all cast in low relief. The upper surface (wu) is flat and has a suspension loop (niu), which is thick and flat. There are 36 spiral studs on the body of the bell. The two xian points are slightly arc-shaped. The mouth (yu) is curved and has inner lips. There are chiselled marks inside the bell near the middle of the gu. Inside the bell, there is one wedge-shaped sound ridge (c. 6cm long and c. 3cm wide) on each side of the gu. The upper surface (wu), the central panel (zheng), the areas (zhuan) between the studs and the gu are all decorated with panchi patterns [in legend, panchi is a curled dragon without a horn].
