Bianzhong with studs (Bronze bell)

Preserved in good condition. There is a small hole in the middle of the body. Made of bronze, with iron black colour on the surface. The instrument features the common characteristics of a bronze bell with a three-column stud design: the section of the body nearest the mouth is quite wide and the upper section of the body has studs, occupying less than half of the body surface. Different sections such as the studs, the central panel (zheng) and the gu are clearly defined by thick lines in low relief. There are no zhuan (areas between the studs) sections on this bell. There are a total of 36 spiral studs placed symmetrically around the body of the bell in four groups of nine, each group featuring 3 rows with 3 studs in each row. The tubular handle (yong) is hollow in the middle, and is connected to the inside of the bell. A raised collar is cast near top of the handle (yong). No traces of polishing are found inside the body. The bottom rim folds inward and is of triangular shape. The body of the bell has a plain design.
