Jingzhou Qiaoniu Chunyu (Bronze drum with a bridge-shaped top handle)

Preserved in good condition. Damage has caused a hole near the top, 8.4-9.2cm in size. Made of bronze. There is rust and corrosion on the surface, which is grey-green in colour. The drum has bulging shoulders and a slim waist. The bottom section curves outward. The bottom rim folds inward to form a lip with a width of 3.6cm. The cross-section of the drum is shaped like a rectangle with cut corners. The top surface is decorated with a band of string patterns and has a flared rim with a bridge-shaped loop in the middle. The loop is supported by two bases, which are decorated with panchi patterns [in legend, panchi is a curled dragon without a horn]. The section of the body nearest the bottom rim is decorated with a band that is 7.0cm in height and has patterns on it. The patterns, from top to bottom, include string designs in low relief, cloud and thunder patterns, and cord patterns. Among these, the cloud and thunder patterns are the main designs and these are 4.6cm in width. The waist section of the drum is decorated with multiple-ring patterns, which have six-petal flower designs inside.
