Yanling Wenzi Qin

The top and bottom surfaces of the qin are made of ovate catalpa wood. The cap corner (guanjue), bridge (yueshan) and dew-receptor (chenglu) are all made of redwood. There are no tuning pegs. The peg protectors have one foot missing. The goose feet are made of wood. The inlays (hui) have fallen off. There are clear traces indicating that the qin had been opened before and part of the seam between the two boards of the qin have become unglued. The qin has no cracks (duanwen) and is painted with grey coating and black lacquer. The sound retainers (nayin) are raised quite high. There are no inscriptions on the belly of the qin.
