Qing dynasty Qin (Seven-stringed zither)
Both the top and bottom surfaces of the qin are made of fir wood. The cap corner (guanjue), bridge (yueshan) and dew-receptor (chenglu) are all made of hardwood, and are painted with lacquer. There are no tuning pegs (qinzhen). The peg protectors (huzhen) have one foot missing. The goose feet are made of redwood. The inlays (hui) are made of mother-of-pearl. The qin has no cracks (duanwen) and is painted with grey coating and black lacquer. The sound retainers (nayin) are rectangular.
