Qing dynasty Qin (Seven-stringed zither-like instrument)

The top surface of the qin is made of fir wood and the bottom surface is made of ovate catalpa wood. The cap corner (guanjue), bridge (yueshan) and dew-receptor (chenglu) are all made of padauk wood, and are not painted. The tuning pegs (qinzhen) are missing. The goose feet are made of padauk wood. The inlays (hui) are made of mother-of-pearl. The qin has no cracks (duanwen) and is painted with grey coating and black lacquer. The sound retainers (nayin) have thin inlays that are made of paulownia wood.
