Two of the pipes are broken: the mouth of the taicu pipe is slightly broken and the bottom of the jiazhong pipe has cracks. The rest of the pipes are well preserved. The yulu pipes are made of bamboo with its skin peeled off. These bamboo pipes are hollow in the middle and are open at the bottom. They were crudely made. The thickness of the wall of each pipe is about 1.2mm. The names of the twelve notes are written in ink at the bottom of each pipe.
