Basset horn
Dark brown stained wood; ivory mounts and knee joint; brass bell; ebony mouthpiece; one brass mount a replacement; angled at the middle socket only: 16 brass keys plus brille mounted variously in turned rings and saddles and on pillars: the original instrument altered by (1) the addition of C sharp and D sharp basset keys, (2) the addition (1979) of a base plate to carry the C sharp basset key, (3) removal of the B / F sharp vent key and provision of the brille, and (4) the addition of duplicate touches to the E flat / B flat and middle F keys.
