Method of hair tightening: simple screw mechanism, no ferrule. Stick: made of Brazil wood; round cross-section; considerably tapered. Head: facing: elongated almond shape, covered with ivory strip with distinctly raised ivory tip; trapezoid wedge in 1/3rd of length furthest from the tip; plane: triangular with inner and outer edges tapered semi-round. Frog: made of ivory; on trapezoid plane but of open work type, foliate decoration carved out of the main piece of ivory and filling c-shape undercutting (within the plane); cross-section narrowing in the middle; screw cap made of ivory (a replacement as its diameter is smaller than that of the stick) with round tip and octagonal cross-section; screw made of iron; eyelet of brass.
