Method of hair tightening: simple screw mechanism, no ferrule. Stick: made of pernambuco, dark chocolate brown; cross section mostly round, octagonal for c. 120mm at frog end; no grip. Head: facing: ivory; square plug; elongated almond; trapezoid plane. Frog: made of ivory; rectangular plane with a c-shape undercut; rear edge trapezoid cross-section, narrowed in the middle; perpendicular edge; screw cap made of ivory with octagonal cross-section; screw made of iron; eyelet of brass; possibly an earlier replacement.
