A nineteenth century shell horn trumpet from the island of Erromango in Vanuatu (formerly the New Hebrides) used for turtle fishing. It is made form a conch shell (Triton tritonitis) with hole cut into it. In April and May 1894 the Secretary of the Australian Museum, Sutherland Sinclair (1851-1917), visited Erromango as the guest of his friend Rev. Dr. H.A. Robertson where he succeeded in obtaining ethnographical specimens.
