bell

Amulet (omamori) (a) in the form of flat knot made of a band (with contents) of brocaded pink silk with motifs of flowers. In red thread on the front are the words 'yume musubi', 'to tie dreams', and on the back the name of the temple, Motsu-ji. A knot of white silk cord is tied to the flat knot. A metal clip links the brocade to a metal ring on which hang also a golden bell and a multi-coloured plaited cord, also used to attach the amulet in use. The amulet is sold mounted on a card (b) printed with the place-names, Hiraizumi and Motsu-ji, and added information on the amulet's protective function.
