bell

Amulet (omamori) in the form of a miniature wooden votive plaque (ema) sealed in a clear plastic pouch and attached to a ring on which also hang two golden bells, an orange silk cord (connected to a plastic suction pad) and a large silk tassel with an orange upper section, from which descend a pair of multi-coloured strands twisted round the centre and a large orange tassel on the end of each strand. The plaque is printed with place names, Hiraizumi and Motsu-ji, the temple's emblem and the function of the amulet (for safe travel and general improvement).
