Hammered dulcimer and mallets, made of wood with metal strings, in the form of a flat trapezoid box, with two courses of strings over two sets of bridges, with three or four strings per note, the tunig pins with flattened square heads (requiring a wrench for tuning). It is played with two small mallets or hammers, of carved wood (Eu1972,01.b and c). Astar-shaped pierecd hole in top of sound box and large curcular hole for handling at the front.
