Viola
body is viol-shaped, but not cut down. Back: 2 pieces pine, single purfling carried round the outline of the button; moderately arched and recovered at edge with a slight head; varnish golden brown, irregularly worn. Belly: 2 pieces pine arched in a continuous curve across, recovered at edge, with a very small head, single-purfled; varnish brown (dirty); f-holes (80mm) upright, wide. Ribs: slab-cut sycamore; neck secured to the block with a steel screw inside, wedged, with ebony fingerboard and nut. Scroll: well cut, with prominent flat bosses; 4 ebony pegs; tailpiece ebony, endpin rosewood. Length 622, body 375, width 194/142/242, depth 44/46, fingerboard 272
