struck zither with idiochordal strings and notched bridge (unbraced gourd-resonated musical bow); a narrow strip of bamboo, with four strings cut from the surface, stretched on a notched upright which serves as bridge; a section of a gourd is fastened to the middle of the bow, which rests against the player's breast, the strings being struck with a small stick; length 1385
