Technical description: Soundboard of spruce; back, ribs, neck and head of sycamore; fingerboard, tailpiece, tail-gut protector ebony; pegs and endpin of rosewood. The varnish is a golden-yellow colour, and is slightly opaque, obscuring the grain on the soundboard in places. There appears to be plugged holes in the top and bottom of the soundboard. Arch of soundboard 14.5mm. The varnish has worn away under the chin rest and the treble upper bout, and is fairly worn on the treble lower bout. Some soundboard damage from the feet of the bridge, and under the top end of the tailpiece where it has been abraded. Ebony/sycamore/ebony purfling. Lowest rib covers all of the lower bout. The ribs have a light to medium figure, one piece back with a deep figure, rising from the left hand (treble) side to the right hand side. Back arch 15mm. On the back the varnish has worn away on the treble upper bout and at the bottom. The neck and head are of one piece. Earlier tuning peg holes have been plugged and new holes drilled. The fingerboard has been varnished, which has now worn through in places. Neck length 127; fingerboard length 261, width 22.5 at nut, 41.1 at bottom.
