Technical description: Viol-shaped body. Soundboard of spruce; back, sides, neck and head of sycamore; fingerboard, tailpiece and tail-gut protector of ebony; tail-pin of ivory; pegs of boxwood. One piece soundboard, crudely cut violin-style f-holes. Viol type arching (11mm high) on soundboard. Ebony/sycamore/ebony purfling on front and back. The varnish appears to have been originally a red brown colour, but the red is fugitive when exposed to light and has now gone a golden colour. 12mm high arched one piece back, light figure rising from left to right. Violin-style neck, head and scroll. Neck 187 long; fingerboard 260 long, 23.7 wide at nut, 38.7 wide at bottom. Fingerboard is hollow underneath. Soundpost and bass bar inside, also corner blocks, and liners visible between the back and sides.
