Technical description: Fine workmanship. Rosewood with german silver mounts and keywork. Folded air-column in manner of bassoon, with descending and ascending portions bored parallel in single block. Out-turned metal bell, silver-plated. Tone-holes are not long tunnels as in the bassoon, but relatively short passages as in the clarinet. Wooden mouthpiece with silver-plated ligature and cap. L0: 8a2; low A♭ o A o B. L1: 1/2 P. L2: T. L3: R-8 B♭. L4: G♯; B; C♯. R0: Sup. R1: T; B♭; C. R2: R-F♯. R3: R-F♯; F. R4: E♭; C. Repair History: Bush in R1 finger-hole not original - it is of brass, knurled outside and threaded inside.
