Violin.
Technical description: Soundboard of spruce; back, ribs, endpin, neck and head of sycamore; pegs, fingerboard, tailpiece, tail-gut protector of ebony. The instrument is a bad quality violin for the amateur market. The f-holes are crude and have 2 nicks in each side. The lower bouts are covered by a single rib. Arch of soundboard 12mm. Two piece back with a light figure, running almost horizontally. Back arch 15mm. Inked purfling on the front, nothing on the back. Brown varnish. Horizontal neck with small (3mm) wedge.Neck length 129; fingerboard length 272, 21.9 wide at nut, 42.8 wide at bottom. Repair History: Damage has been caused by clamps that have been used to repair the instrument. The neck has been broken and been repaired with a large screw. Repairs to the scroll at each side by the D and A pegs.
