Violin.
Technical description: Soundboard of spruce; back and ribs of sycamore; neck and head of beech; fingerboard of stained fruitwood; tailpiece of ebony; pegs and endpin of rosewood. A fairly crudely made instrument. Soundboard of wide grained spruce with crudely cut f-holes and ebony/sycamore/ebony purfling. Soundboard arch 13mm. Two piece back with good figure rising from the centre to the edges. Back arch 12mm. Ribs have no figure. Poor joint in the centre of the back. Poorly cut scroll, and flat fingerboard. Neck length 118; fingerboard length 247, width at nut 21.7, at bottom 40.0. Fingerboard of two pieces, one part glued on top of the other. Red brown varnish.
