Upright pianoforte.

Technical description: English cabinet Piano. Compass C₁ - F₇ [CC - f'''']. The keyboard has a curved mahogany lid with a music desk attached to the interior and wooden blocks either side which were possibly adapted to act as candle holders. Heavy turned fluted legs under the front corners of the keyboard. The nameplate is on a mahogany panel behind the keyboard, written in ink on a satinwood plaque with brass inlay surrounding it. Standard sticker action. Three pedals, the left-hand a una corda; the centre a 'pizzicato' pedal; the right-hand a sustain. Ivory naturals, ebony accidentals sycamore keyfronts. Three-octave span 491. Height of top of naturals above floor 721. Columns at each side, just in front of the main section of the case, sitting on an upper ledge above the keyboard, the top and bottom of the columns having carved work. The lid at the top of the main section of the piano has an overhanging cornice with carved work. Instrument on castors. Repair History: There is evidence of a previous refinement to the action, removed during a previous ownership. The fretwork above keyboard replaced with the from another piano (supplied by Roy Mickleburgh), fitted and extended by Andrew Garlick, 1978. Silk covering (replacing previous embroidered cloth) applied by Andrew and Jane Garlick, 1978.
